Beacon's DC Solar Installation Project

A landmark achievement for Beacon Solar

Beacon Lighting is Australia’s largest lighting retailer, and with 96 stores nationwide, the Beacon name has become synonymous with quality and expertise. The company also leads the way in energy efficient technology, providing consumers with extensive LED lighting and energy saving ceiling fan choices.

Beacon Solar is a natural extension of this commitment to a healthier, greener environment through the use of PV solar to generate renewable energy.

With Beacon Lighting’s Distribution Centre boasting a holding capacity of 10,000 pallets, it became the ideal platform to showcase the power and versatility of solar technology, while significantly reducing our operating costs and overall carbon footprint. Our solar team went to work designing and installing a 100kW PV Solar System like no other.

The project involved 2 whole days to lay out the complex design on the roof and 9 installers working around the clock to install 384 Seraphim polycrystalline panels, 3 Zeversolar Zeverlution Pro 33kW inverters and public real time display monitor.

Plus, a Tesla car charging station has been made available for general public use during business hours. This was an important inclusion, as it strengthened our commitment to sourcing the latest energy saving solutions at every level.

The result is not only a landmark design for Beacon, but also projected savings of a 24% reduction in energy consumption and projected ROI of 14.1%.

This unique solar installation sets the bar high when it comes to the power and flexibility of solar and will continue to demonstrate the benefits of adopting a long-term approach to reducing our carbon footprint and reaching Australia’s Renewable Energy Target (RET) of 20% by 2020.

Watch our solar vision unfold as it happened.
